Victoria Jara

Apprentice Dancer

Victoria Jara was born in Miami, Florida to Peruvian and Chilean parents. Her story begins as a kid who was “ni de aqui, ni de alla”, not from here nor from there. Growing up between Miami and Iquitos, Peru, she was exposed to various Latin, indigenous, and African dances. She learned to dance traditional Amazonian dances, samba, salsa, merengue, and negroide, as well as more contemporary styles such as ballet, jazz, and hip hop. In the last few years, Victoria has dived into learning Kizomba dance (an Angolan partner dance), and has traveled to different cities around the world to learn from different instructors. Victoria joined Lannaya in 2021 to continue following her passion for learning African dance and movement.
