Semente is an artist, scholar, capoerista originally from São Paulo, Brazil. Semente focuses on making multi-medium and multimedia art that (re)presents, reflects and resonates with people of the African diaspora, especially those who identify as femme/queer. Artist statement: “my work is inspired by the beauty, radiance and fluidity of black, brown, queer, bodies/lives, joys, hopes, traumas, futures/pasts etc. I believe that art is a means through which we have been able to survive, to prosper, to love, to embody, to continue, to heal, to connect with ancestor/spirit/god/s, to create futures to carry on.” To follow Semente’s art journey visit @artbysemente.
