Carlos E Pérez Díaz

Apprentice Drummer

Born and raised in the colony of Puerto Rico. Carlos started his musical journey by being submerged in the music of his people: reggaeton! In the 90’s, the music of the time, or at least the one that got the most airplay, was merengue. However, the palpable swing of Salsa was in every corner as well. His musical journey began at around age 13 by playing drum-kit. He learned bass and trumpet on his own. It was only when he decided to pursue music as a career that he truly dove into the mechanics of it. He enrolled into the Inter American University’s popular music program. It was here where he formally developed his musical skills/style. A mix of afro latino beats with progressive rock fueled his playing. He concentrated on all things percussion and felt truly alive when feeling the thuds of percussion fill the room.
